In today's Gospel, we find the disciples of John approaching him and telling him about the ministry of Jesus and how people are going over to him in large numbers. They see the ministries of both in human terms but John knew that his time was over and that he was only a forerunner. He says those beautiful words that summarize his life and message. It is Jesus who should grow in the lives of people and that he should fade away.
In this Christmas season the thought that should come uppermsot in our minds is allowing Jesus to grow in our hearts, our lives , our behavior and actions.If our selfishness disappears and the spirit of love begins to grow in our lives, it means that we are moving closer to Jesus. We shall pray that the spirit of love and forgiveness may grow in our lives.
